Remote and entry-level jobs in South Africa.
Where first-time job seekers and people wanting remote work can find genuine opportunities, and how to avoid the scams that target them.
Free official starting points
- SA Youth: free, zero-rated youth opportunities and work-readiness support.
- ESSA: the Department of Employment and Labour's free work-seeker database.
- DPSA vacancies: weekly government posts, many entry level.
- Learnerships and internships: paid learning with no experience needed.
- SAPS trainee intakes: for matriculants aged 18 to under 30.
Entry-level roles worth targeting
General worker, cleaner, security officer (PSIRA registration required), retail assistant, cashier, call-centre agent, data capturer, admin assistant, and hospitality roles. Government versions of these posts appear in the DPSA circular and on our verified vacancy board.
Finding real remote work
- Search the company's own careers page, not only social media posts.
- Check the company exists: website, registered address, and a CIPC record for South African companies.
- Expect a real interview by video or phone with a named person.
- Confirm pay, hours, equipment and data costs in writing before you start.
Walk away if you're asked to pay for training, a laptop or a “registration fee”, to receive money on someone's behalf, or to share banking OTPs. See our job scam checklist.
